Mercedes-Benz India will launch the new GLC in Indian market on June 2nd. Like all its siblings, the GLC will follow Mercedes’ new nomenclature for SUVs, and as the name suggests, its based on the C-Class. If the GLS can be called as the “S-Class of the SUVs”, then I think we can safely call the GLC as the C-Class of the SUVs. This new nomenclature makes total sense after all. In fact, it does make Mercedes’ SUV portfolio look nice and clean, and I totally love that.

The GLC was first unveiled in India at Auto Expo 2016, and will be launched in Delhi by MD & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Mr Roland Folger. The SUV has reportedly started to arrive at dealerships ahead of launch at is expected to cost Rs 45 lakhs, ex-showroom.

The GLC for India will be powered by the familiar 2143 CC diesel engine, possibly in two state of tunes, and will be mated to Mercedes’ very own 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. GLC 300 4Matic (petrol) is also expected.

The GLC will come with five different driving modes as a part of its off-road capability, and has Eco Mode with start stop technology for better fuel efficiency. The GLC is one of the Mercedes’ 12 planned launches for India for 2016, and the GLC 43 AMG might follow later as well.
