On the exterior, the changes are subtle with some minor tweaks in bumper design – a different design from the international version. There’s a new LED headlamps and LED tail lamps. The fibre-optic DRLs first light up blue, then change colour via a smooth transition to bright white. Merc says, the brightness of the brake lights and turn indicators varies depending on the light conditions to avoid dazzling other road users. Other than these changes, everything else on the exterior has been retained including the 0.25 Cd drag co-efficient, a lowest of any production car in the world. There’s a new exterior color option named Cavensite Blue.

The new CLA’s interior too has got some minor tweaks here and there. Almost all of the features has been carried over from the previous model, including the 8 inch infotainment system (Style trim gets 7 inch) and standard panoramic sunroof for the Sport variants. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Talking about the powertrains, there is a 2.0 litre (1991 cc) 4 cylinder petrol motor, producing 184 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque @1,200 – 4,000 rpm. The diesel is a familiar 2.2 litre (2143 cc) 4 cylinder turbocharged unit, producing 136 hp @ 3,200 – 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque @ 1,400 – 3,000 rpm. Both engines are mated to a 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission. Petrol’s top speed is rated at 240 km/h, and diesel will do 220 km/h. 0-100 km/h happens in 7.1 seconds and 9 seconds for petrol and diesel respectively.

The CLA-Class made its first entry to India as CLA 45 AMG in July 2014, and the regular version was launched in Jan 2015. India is the only country after Europe to locally produce the CLA.
