The CBR is celebrating 25 years of existence, and the new model is claimed to have 14% better power-to-weight ratio, thanks to a weight reduction of 33 lbs (15 kg). Valve lift and timing have been optimized, so that the engine now revs to 13,000 rpm.

As the name suggests, a 999 cc liquid cooled Inline-4 engine powers the CBR 1000RR, with an output of 141 kW (189 hp) @ 13,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque @ 11,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-Speed gearbox with slipper clutch and quick shifter.

The TFT-LCD monitor provides the rider with information, including riding modes, settings as well as the traditional speedometer and techometer information. Also, when used in race mode, it offers lap numbers, times, and splits.

The Fireblade SP features semi-active Öhlins Electronic Control (EC) suspension, with 43 mm NIX 30 EC fork and a TTX 36 EC shock. Honda says, settings are optimized electronically to suit the conditions. Other features include dual-channel ABS and nine-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The HSTC measures front and rear wheel speeds and body roll angle, and also uses attitude-detection technology developed for ASIMO.

Both Fireblade and Fireblade SP will be sold through Honda’s Wing World outlets in Mumbai and Delhi.
