Triumph Motorcycles and Bajaj Auto announce partnership

Triumph-Bajaj-partnership

British motorcycle brand Triumph and Pune-based Bajaj Auto have announced a global partnership today. The objective according to the official statement, is to “deliver a range of outstanding mid-capacity motorcycles benefiting from the collective strengths of both companies.”

Which could mean that the duo will jointly develop motorcycles within 500cc capacity, and will retail them under their respective brands. A strategy similar to TVS-BMW partnership. Triumph may also use Bajaj’s plant in Chakan near Pune for manufacturing, and also for exports.

According to the official statement, this new global partnership will enable Triumph to significantly expand its global reach by entering new higher volume market segments, especially within the emerging markets across the world.

Meanwhile, Bajaj will gain access to the Triumph brand, and its motorcycles, enabling it to offer a wider range of motorcycles within its domestic market and other international markets.

More details are expected in due course.
