British sports car maker Lotus has added the GT430 Sport to the Evora line-up. The car will be available both in automatic and manual transmissions.

The Evora GT430 Sport is powered by the same 3.5-litre V6 supercharged engine, producing 430 hp @ 7000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque (automatic) @ 4500 rpm, same as the standard GT430. Even the 0-100 km/h acceleration is the same at 3.7 seconds (automatic).

What’s different is that the Sport variant doesn’t get the downforce generating aerodynamic elements such as the carbon fibre front splitter, louvers on top the front wheel arches, and a large carbon wing at the rear. This results in a weight reduction of 10 kg both in automatic and manual (1248 kg dry, manual), bringing the power-to-weight ratio to 345 hp / tonne and the top speed to 196 mph (315 km/h), making it the fastest Lotus production car ever. The standard GT430 does 305 km/h.

As for the downforce, the Sport generates 100 kg at max speed Vs 250 kg of the GT430.

What the Sport gets however, are some generous exposed carbon fibre panels. The standard components include full carbon front and rear bumpers, front access panel, roof panel, rear quarter panels as well as a one-piece tailgate with integrated spoiler.

Speaking of the transmission, a 6-speed manual is standard while the buyer can opt for a 6-speed automatic with aluminium shift paddles.

Since June 2017, China’s Geely owns full stake in Lotus Cars.
