Bengaluru-based popular car rental firm Zoomcar has launched PEDL – a cycle sharing service which starts at Rs 10 per half hour. PEDL currently operates over 500 cycles in 3 cities – Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata.

The bikes have real-time GPS tracking, solar battery charging and built-in alarms, said the company in a statement. Just like their car rentals, there’ll be multiple pick up points in the city. The user simply needs to walk up to a PEDL location, pay via Paytm and drop it off later at any of the PEDL locations.

Zoomcar said that the PEDL cycles come with unique features including custom designed aluminum alloy frames and drum brakes, anti-slip chains, airless solid tyres and height adjustable seats. The cycles are designed to support over two years of intensive use. The bikes have smart locks that can be unlocked using a QR code.

Additionally, anyone can become a PEDL host. Basically, if you have a space, share it and get benefits. PEDL host benefits include 25% discount on Zoomcar rides, free luxury car ride every 6 months, free PEDL rides for a year, free vacation (stay + travel), and other cashbacks and discounts.

Along with the Paytm, Zoomcar has partnered with McDonald’s, Yatra, goibibo and Quirk for benefits.
