Concept designs can sometimes be eccentric. We have the Lamborghini Egoista for example, but this one takes the cake. Its called X E-Tense, and is DS’ imagination of an electric hypercar in 2035.
The concept has an asymmetrical design and the passengers have a separate enclosed area as if two different cars were cut and glued together. The cockpit is accessed by an Elytre door (butterfly) that has carbon fibre and leather trims. Once inside, the driver will find a motor racing-inspired single seat and leather-wood trimmed steering wheel with “capacitive senses to monitor the driver’s efforts.”
The enclosed passenger section on the other side is accessed via gullwing door. Inside the glass canopy, there is a ventilated and massaging seat “that stretches back like a deployed bird’s wing.” There is also an autonomous mode where the driver can climb into the passenger section and enjoy the see-through electro-chromatic glass floor and hi-fidelity sound bar.
The passenger section can be configured to have two seats. The car’s functionalities can be accessed via a personal assistant called IRIS, which is a hologram.
The X E-Tense has two electric motors within the front wheels. For road use, peak power stands at 400 kW (540 hp), a figure that rises to 1,000 kW (1,360 hp) in ‘circuit’ mode.
DS further said that due to a new technology, the body is capable of recovering its original form after an impact.
