Mercedes-Benz has launched the new, facelifted C-Class in India, with prices starting at Rs 40 lakh ex-showroom, Pan India. The new C-Class saloon was globally revealed earlier this year.

As we can see in the table above, the new C-Class in India is available only in diesel variants at the moment. Speaking of which, the OM654 diesel engine which made its India-debut in the E 220 d LWB, is offered for the first time in the C-Class.

The BS6-compliant 1,950 cc 4-cylinder in-line engine is tuned to produce 245 hp at 4200 rpm and 500 Nm of torque between 1600-2400 rpm, in the 300d AMG Line. For 200d Prime & Progressive variants, the engine delivers 194 hp at 3800 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1600-2800 rpm. Transmission is a 9G-Tronic automatic that sends power to the rear wheels.

The AMG Line accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 250 km/h. The other two variants take 7.9 seconds and can do a top speed of 232 km/h.

According to Michael Jopp, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Mercedes-Benz India, this model update is the biggest in the history of the C-Class. Around 6,500 components have been changed in total, more than half the number of components in an average C-Class sedan.

“Selling over 30,500 units since its inception in India, the C-Class has been one of the best-selling luxury sedans for the Indian market and remains a key contributor to our continued success in the market,” he added.
