The Fiat 124 Spider has got more features for the 2019 model year. Of these, few of them are related to its appearance.

Optional on the Abarth models is the Veleno Appearance Group. For those who’re wondering, the “Veleno” translates to “poison”, which alludes to the Abarth scorpion logo. The package includes red exterior mirror caps, a red lower fascia lip and a red front tow hook.

Buyers can also add a custom center stripe, available for the Classica variant for $295. The new “Double Rally Stripe” is available either in white or red. Also available is the multi-colored “Retro Stripe” in both white/gray and red/gray combinations. There is also a new Ceramic Gray exterior paint option.

Inside, Abarth-branded carpeted floor mats and a bright footrest (dead pedal) round off the aforementioned Veleno package.

A rear backup camera and Fiat Connect 7.0 with 7-inch touchscreen infotainment are now standard across the 124 Spider lineup.

More features include Sirius XM Radio and remote keyless entry. More options include full LED adaptive headlamps, Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection, Bose 9-speaker premium audio system and Recaro seats for the Abarth.

As before, the Abarth models ride on 17-inch Gun Metal aluminum wheels. Buyers can also add Brembo braking system.

There seem to be no mechanical changes whatsoever. The 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol continues to power the Spider, producing 164 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque in the Abarth variant. A 6-speed manual or a 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

The Abarth model also features Bilstein sport suspension and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Which then brings us to the headline. The Record Monza Exhaust is a factory-installed $995 option which according to the company, provides an unmistakable “Abarth Growl”.
