In addition to the Twizy, Renault now has another tiny EV in its portfolio. The difference is that unlike the teeny weeny Twizy, the Twingo electric is a lot more practical with space for up to 4 grown adults and some of their luggage as well. It is already on sale in European markets with prices starting at €21,350 (excluding incentives) in France.

As with its 3rd generation ICE sibling, the all-electric Twingo was developed on Daimler’s Smart platform, which explains its cute looks. The examples here also showcase the ‘Vibes’ limited edition, finished in Orange Valencia, wearing white 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with orange nut caps. The regular car has contrast accents on the grille pattern, and a contrast stripe running across the side profile connecting the headlight and the taillight. The tailgate is finished in gloss black, which kinda adds a premium touch.

As for the dimensions, the EV measures 3,615 mm in length, 1,646 mm in width and 1,557 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,492 mm. With the back seat folded, this tiny EV offers a luggage space of up to 980 litres.

The funky cabin features contrast accents on the dashboard, around the air vents, on the centre console and on the seat upholstery. There’s a contrast stitching as well. Feature list includes auto AC and a 7-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity.

Safety features include front and side airbags; ABS, ESP, and TPMS. Lane Departure Warning can be added from the options list.

The Twingo’s single electric motor develops a peak power of just over 81 metric hp (60 kW) from 3,590 to 11,450 rpm and a peak torque of 160 Nm (118 lb-ft) from 500 to 3,590 rpm. Its 21.4 kWh (usable) lithium-ion battery pack is claimed to offer a WLTP range of up to 190 km (118 mi).

A 2.3 kW home socket would take up to 15 hours to recharge the battery. However, there are different wallbox options which significantly cut down the charging time. At a 22 kW AC charging station, the Twingo is claimed to get filled up in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
