Hyundai IONIQ 6 N debuts with 650 boosted horses

You’ve probably heard by now people saying on the internet that if they were to buy an EV, it would be the Ioniq 6. And these people are those who dislike/not interested in EVs (including me 😉). I think it’s mostly to do with the design; the Ioniq 6 looks absolutely stunning, doesn’t it? I like the pre-facelift version more. But anyway, joining the Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 6 N Line is the Ioniq 6 N, billed as the company’s second high-performance EV following the Ioniq 5 N. Prices are not out yet, but the model has been listed on Hyundai’s European websites.

The Ioniq 6 N put on a show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed recently; there was even a drift-spec version for some extra drama. Visually, the Ioniq 6 N is finished in Performance Blue paintwork with red accents. A new Performance Blue Pearl will be available to buyers, which adds a pearl finish to the paintwork. Motorsport-inspired elements include a swan neck rear wing and front & rear bumpers with air curtains. Those aero-optimized 20-inch black wheels look sweet as well; the wheels are wrapped with exclusive HN-marked Pirelli P-Zero 5 tyres.

Front and rear discs measure 400 mm and 360 mm, respectively. Hyundai claims to have fully redesigned the suspension geometry for the Ioniq 6 N, and there are also something called stroke sensing ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension) dampers.

Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the Ioniq 6 N has two electric motors: one at the front and one at the rear, offering a combined power output of 448 kW or 609 metric hp and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque.

If you press the NGB (N Grin Boost) button on the steering wheel, the power output jumps to 478 kW (650 metric hp), but only for 10 seconds, though. With N Launch Control, the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 3.2 seconds. The official top speed is 257 km/h (160 mph). Other features and gimmicks include the N Drift Optimizer, N e-Shift, and N Active Sound+. The e-Shift simulates motorsport-inspired close gear ratios.

The battery pack is of 84 kWh capacity, slightly larger than before, but the range is yet to be disclosed.
