With over 2 million units sold to date, the Volkswagen T-Roc is indeed a successful model, thanks to its compact dimensions and clean styling. Now it’s time for the second-gen model to continue the success story. Pre-sales have begun in Germany, with prices starting at €30,845 (including VAT).
| Variant | German prices (including VAT) |
| Trend | €30,845 |
| Life | €34,005 |
| Style | €38,510 |
| R-Line | €42,460 |
The second-gen T-Roc is built on the MQB Evo platform that underpins a whole bunch of VW Group models, including the Golf Mk8 and the Tiguan Mk3. The styling has been sharpened up with elements quite similar to the Tiguan Mk3; I think this one looks a bit sharper and more aggressive. LED headlights come standard, while buyers can opt for IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. However, if you buy the R-Line or the Style variant, you get the IQ lights as standard. At the rear, there’s a full-width light bar with an illuminated VW logo, depending on the variant. Again, depending on the variant, the new T-Roc can be equipped with up to 20-inch wheels.
This time around, there’s no cabriolet option. But anyway, the new T-Roc measures 4,373 mm long, 1,828 mm wide (excluding mirrors) and 1,573 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,629 mm. It is about 12 cm longer than its predecessor, which should ensure more room in the cabin. A luggage capacity of 1,350 liters (475 litres with seats up) is not bad either.
Let’s get the numbers out of the way, then, shall we? Initially, the new T-Roc will be available with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI mild-hybrid with 85 kW (116 metric hp) and 110 kW (150 metric hp) options. They will be followed by two new full hybrid options. A little later, a 2.0-litre TSI with mild-hybrid and 4Motion AWD will join the lineup, followed by the T-Roc R as the most powerful variant. The transmission in all these cases will be a 7-speed DCT. A BEV is also in the works, but don’t expect it until at least by the end of 2027.
Key highlights inside include a 14-way electrically adjustable ergoActive driver seat with massage function, a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, 30-color ambient lighting, 3-zone climate control, and the usual ADAS suite.
