The first-ever BMW 3 Series, the E21, went on sale in June 1975. I think the E21 is still one of the best-looking Beemers out there. I saw one in my city not too long ago in one of the neighbourhoods I hang out, on a Sunday evening, and if I had the budget and a parking space, I’d definitely add one to my collection. But anyway, the 3 Series is celebrating 50 years of success, and as part of the celebrations, BMW has launched the 330Li M Sport ‘50 Jahre’ Edition and M340i ‘50 Jahre’ Edition, priced at INR 64,00,000 and INR 76,90,000, respectively. The prices are ex-showroom.
Compared with the regular 330Li, the ‘50 Jahre’ edition on the exterior features the M High-Gloss Shadowline elements with the kidney grille, window surrounds, rear diffuser and tailpipes in high-gloss black. It also gets a laser-engraved artwork on the B-pillar with a ‘1/50’ badging. On the inside, it gets carbon fibre interior appliques and the Head-up display with 3D Augmented View navigation.
The 330Li is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 190 kW (258 metric hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).
The M340i ‘50 Jahre’ edition on the exterior features a laser-engraved artwork on the B-Pillar with a ‘1/50’ badging, ‘50 Jahre’ roundels on the front & rear, ‘50 Jahre’ hubcaps, M High Gloss Shadowline elements, and badges in high gloss black. Buyers will also get a M Performance key fob. Interior highlights include BMW Live Cockpit Professional, sport seats with Vernasca leather upholstery in Black with M highlights, steering wheel with a red centre marker, Anthracite headliner, and carbon fibre appliques. M Sport rear differential, M Sport suspension, and Variable Sport Steering are some of the other key highlights.
The M340i xDrive (AWD) is powered by a 3.0L straight-six turbo petrol engine with 275 kW (374 metric hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft).
