Despite having the Grand Vitara and the e Vitara, why would you need another one in the same segment? That’s a good question, indeed, but my guesses are as good as yours. And, no, the Victoris won’t be sold under the NEXA retail chain, but under the regular Arena retail chain. I guess that should tell you something. Full pricing will be revealed in the coming days, but for now, you can book the Victoris for a deposit of INR 11,000.
The design of the Victoris is.. well, a mixed vegetable curry. While the front fascia reminds us of a Volkswagen, the rear is a Kia. The design doesn’t look as sophisticated and elegant as the Grand Vitara, but maybe that’s just me. Key exterior features include LED Projector headlights with LED DRLs, a wraparound LED lightband at the rear, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a panoramic sunroof.
Built on the Suzuki Global C platform, the same as that of the Grand Vitara, the Victoris is about the same size as its Nexa sibling. It measures 4,360 mm long, 1,795 mm wide, and 1,655 mm tall. The wheelbase measures 2,600 mm. The Victoris is claimed to be the segment-first vehicle to feature an underbody CNG tank, enabling an uncompromised boot space.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the Victoris offers mild-hybrid and strong hybrid (parallel hybrid) powertrain options, the same options you’ll find in the Grand Vitara. The mild-hybrid is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder (K15C) naturally aspirated petrol engine, offering 76 kW (103 metric hp) and 139 Nm (102.5 lb-ft). This engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission (torque converter).
Interestingly, an all-wheel-drive (AllGrip) option is also available, where the transmission is a 6-speed torque converter automatic with paddle shifters. The AllGrip models boast a Multi-Terrain mode selector with Auto, Snow, Sport, and Lock modes and Hill Descent Control for some light adventures. But don’t go rock crawling with this one.
The strong hybrid is a combination of a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder (Toyota M15D-FXE) naturally aspirated petrol engine and an electric motor integrated into a CVT. The output figures are 68 kW (92 metric hp) and 122 Nm (90 lb-ft). No AWD option here.
Key features inside include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, 8-speaker Infinity audio system with Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround sound, 64-colour backlit ambient mood lighting system, PM2.5 filter with AQI display, and Suzuki Connect connected car features. Passive safety includes standard 6 airbags, while active safety includes Level 2 ADAS suite. The suite includes Automatic Emergency Brake, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, High Beam Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, and Lane Change Alert.
