The Mahindra BE 6 may not have earned the sexiest crossover of the decade award, but it certainly is a head-turner, especially in colors such as black and orange. Following the launch of the BE 6 Batman Edition in August, Mahindra has now launched the BE 6 Formula E Edition, priced at 23.69 lakh, ex-showroom. Unlike the Batman Edition, this one isn’t limited to any particular number, but the first 999 customers will get the following benefits:
- Track-day experience at Mahindra’s Proving Track with Kush Maini (FIA Formula 2 racer)
- Collector’s Box with Mahindra Racing memorabilia
- A memorable photo & video of the delivery moment
- Choice of a special number between 0 and 99, which will come as a decal on the side door
- Customer’s first name to appear on the Mahindra Racing Car—which will race at the London E-Prix
Yes, the BE 6 Formula E Edition is not just a sticker job, but an actual Edition with a different bodykit. It features different front & rear fascias, a boot lip spoiler, different lighting, dark-tinted 20-inch wheels, Firestorm Orange calipers, front & rear skid plates, race-inspired decals, and FIA branding on windscreen and passenger-side lower cladding. Exterior color options include Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black.
The thing that I’m not a fan of, though, is the taillights, or the lack of them. You see, the regular BE 6 taillights are inadequate, especially in bright sunlight, and this one seems to have made it much worse with those tiny lines. While it may seem like that’s my personal opinion, I’m sure you’ll find more people who would agree with that opinion.
Inside, you get Firestorm Orange accents, faux carbon appliques, FIA X Formula E edition plaque, Formula E logo branding on dashboard & seats, FIA branding on seat belts, Formula E-inspired custom startup animation, sports car-inspired start/stop button flap, and translucent door inserts.
The Formula E Edition appears to be based on the range-topping Pack Three variant, which packs a 210 kW (285.5 metric hp) motor drawing juice from a 79 kWh battery pack. Mahindra claims a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 202 km/h (125.5 mph). There’ll also be Formula E-inspired exterior engine sounds to enhance the experience.
