Mahindra has introduced the XEV 9S, a 7-seater all-electric SUV, for those who don’t fancy the BE 6 or the XEV 9E. Introductory ex-showroom prices start at 19.95 lakh and go all the way up to 29.45 lakh. Bookings will open on Jan 14, 2026, with deliveries commencing on Jan 23, 2026.

Variants 59 kWh 70 kWh 79 kWh
Pack One Above 19.95 lakh 21.95 lakh
Pack Two Above 24.45 lakh 25.45 lakh
Pack Three 27.35 lakh
Pack Three Above 29.45 lakh

Confusing and hard-to-remember nomenclature, indeed. But anyway, as mentioned, these prices are introductory. Meaning, a few days/weeks post commencement of deliveries, prices may increase even further.

Yes, the design looks familiar, and I guess you could consider the XEV 9S as an all-electric cousin of the XUV 700. However, the front fascia is styled similar to that of the XEV 9E. Key exterior features include Bi-LED projector headlights, LED running lights, LED taillights, sequential turn signals, panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The range-topping Pack Three variants offer Phone as a Key functionality (via NFC). In addition to a rear luggage space, the XEV 9S boasts a 150-litre frunk.

The XEV 9S is a loaded vehicle when it comes to features and creature comforts. Some of these include three 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard (dubbed “Cinemascope Display”), built-in Amazon Alexa & Chat GPT, AR HUD, a built-in in-car camera, 6-way electrically adjustable front seats, memory function for driver seat, power Boss Mode front passenger seat (to expand rear seat legroom), ventilated front & second-row seats, reclining second- & third-row seats, a 15-watt wireless charger, and 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. As for safety, there’s a full suite of ADAS, including Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Evasive Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and more. Download the brochure here. Passive safety includes 7 airbags (6 standard).

Built on the so-called INGLO platform, the XEV 9S is a rear-wheel-drive SUV, just like its coupe cousin, the XEV 9E. The power output varies depending on the battery pack. The 59 kWh pack offers 170 kW (231 metric hp), the 70 kWh pack offers 180 kW (245 metric hp), and the largest of the bunch, the 79 kWh pack, offers 210 kW (285.5 metric hp). The torque, however, remains the same, which is 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 7.0 seconds, and the top speed is 202 km/h (125.5 mph).

Depending on the battery pack, the MIDC range is claimed to be anywhere between 521 km (324 mi) to 679 km (422 mi). Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery pack for the first registered owner. For the second owner, it is 10 years/200,000 km (whichever is earlier).
