Yes, it took some time, but the third-gen Audi RS5 is now here, and the best part is that it is available in both Sedan and Avant bodystyles, just like its A5 and S5 siblings. Order books are expected to open in April 2026 in Germany. Prices start at €106,200 for the RS5 Sedan and €107,850 for the RS5 Avant.
The new RS5 models look absolutely stunning, don’t they? I think many will buy them just for the looks. The front fascia is dominated by a large 3D honeycomb grille, flanked by large air intakes on the sides. The headlights shown here are optional darkened Matrix LED headlights with an RS-specific DRL signature in a checkered-flag layout. The rear fascia features second-gen OLED taillights with communicative animations. The oval tailpipes of the sport exhaust system look rather large, too.
The RS5 rides on standard 20-inch Y-spoke wheels, but in the options list, you can find RS-exclusive 21-inch forged wheels in a twin-spoke design. Steel brakes are standard, but you’ll find 21-inch RS ceramic brakes in the options list. Claimed to be 30 kg (66 lbs) lighter, the optional brakes come with 440 mm front and 410 mm rear discs. The new RS5 rides on a five-link suspension setup, front and rear, with twin-valve shock absorbers. The twin-valve tech is claimed to offer both comfort and a sporty driving experience, since both compression and rebound can be controlled independently.
Moving on to the business end of the story, then, the new RS5 packs a plug-in hybrid powertrain, as suggested by the infographic above. The powertrain combines a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with a permanent magnet electric motor integrated into an 8-speed torque-converter gearbox. There’s also an electromechanical torque vectoring on the rear axle, billed as a world first in a production model. In the system, a water-cooled permanent-magnet electric motor with an output of 8 kW (11 metric hp) and 40 Nm (29.5 lb-ft) serves as a high-voltage actuator.
The ICE produces 375 kW (510 metric hp) and 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft), while the gearbox-integrated motor offers an additional 130 kW (177 metric hp) and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft). The system figures, however, are 470 kW (639 metric hp) and 825 Nm (608.5 lb-ft).
The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is claimed to be 3.6 seconds, while the top speed is claimed to be 285 km/h (177 mph) with the optional Audi Sport package. The kerb weights of Sedan and Avant are 2,355 kg (5,192 lbs) and 2,370 kg (5,225 lbs), respectively.
A 25.9 kWh (22 kWh net) 400-volt battery pack is claimed to offer a range of up to 87 km (54 mi) in the city.
The spiced-up interiors feature a 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and a standard 10.9-inch passenger display as well. A head-up display is an optional extra. Sport seats plus with honeycomb quilting is a standard affair.
