The Infiniti Q50 buyers in America are being offered the Q50 Black Opal Edition—available as a $2,200 package on the range-topping Q50 Red Sport 400 trim. For anyone wondering, the Q50 Red Sport 400 starts at $56,500. Apparently, the package will be available in limited numbers.
As the name suggests, the special edition is inspired by color changing nature of opals. The exterior of the car is finished in a Black Opal Metallic paint that shimmers and shifts between blue, green and purple hues depending on lighting and viewing angles. In addition to its opalescent exterior, the Q50 Black Opal Edition benefits from the added subtlety of satin black exterior logos and badges. A carbon fibre trunk spoiler rounds off the package.
The rest of the features and creature comforts are gonna be carried over from the regular Q50 Red Sport 400. These would include 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower displays; wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity; 16-speaker Bose audio system; dual-zone climate control; 8-way power front seats, and all the usual passive and active safety systems.
The Infiniti Q50 Black Opal is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that pumps out 298 kW (405 metric hp/400 bhp) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission featuring manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching. Power is channeled to the rear wheels as standard, however, AWD is also available.
