Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon claims to be hotter than a nude model

The “barely street-legal” (as marketed by Ford) Mustang GTD already looks menacing in its “stock” form. Despite having carbon fibre body panels, a carbon fibre driveshaft, a gigantic carbon fibre rear wing, carbon ceramic brakes, and a lightweight titanium Akrapovič exhaust system, it has a kerb weight of 1,970 kg (4,343 lbs), which isn’t exactly a “lightweight” number. Sure, it is lighter than hybrids, but being so close to 2 tonnes isn’t exactly lightweight, is it? Which is why Ford is introducing the Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon.

The Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon takes the carbon fibre usage to the next level by being fully naked, with carbon weaves matching perfectly down the midline of the vehicle. The sheet metal in the doors is also replaced with carbon fibre. Deleting the paint has contributed to a weight saving of 5.9 kg (13 lbs) compared to a Mustang GTD Carbon Series with the Performance package. Also, notice the black Brembo callipers, with gloss-black GTD script.

Mechanically, the GTD Liquid Carbon remains the same, obviously. It is powered by a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 “Predator” engine with 608 kW (827 metric hp/815 bhp) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). Buyers can opt for the Multimatic DSSV (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) tech, which can lower the car by 40 mm in Track mode.

Inside, the seats are upholstered in a combination of black leather and Dinamica microfiber suede, contrasted with Hyper Lime stitching. The same theme can be found on the door panels, center console, dashboard, and steering wheel.
