Isuzu MU-X to be launched on May 11

Isuzu-MU-X

The Indian market’s positive response to the D-Max V-Cross has got the Isuzu excited, and as per several media reports, the company is all set to launch the MU-X SUV in the country on May 11.

If you didn’t know yet, Isuzu has an old connection with GM, in fact very old, dates back to the ’70s. The duo have collaborated for engines, platforms, designs and what not. The MU-X is a Japanese cousin of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, in other words, they share the underpinnings. While the front face resembles the V-Cross, the side profile is almost identical to the Trailblazer. The cabin layout too is more or less the same as the Trailblazer. Unlike the Trailblazer which is imported as a CBU, the MU-X is being assembled at the Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh. So expect a good pricing as well.

The India-spec MU-X will have the LED DRLs within the fog lamp housing, and new alloy wheel design. In the international markets such as Philippines and Australia, the MU-X is offered with a 3.0 litre 4-cylinder diesel engine, available both as 4×2 and 4×4. The 4×4 will come with “Terrain Command” 4×4 System, the similar one we saw in the V-Cross. Philippines has a 2.5 litre option too.

Once launched, the MU-X will rival the Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the segment leader Toyota Fortuner.
