Hyundai has expanded its Ioniq line of BEVs with a B-segment hatchback called the Ioniq 3. It has been listed on the European market websites and is expected to go on sale in the coming months.
The photos here show the Ioniq 3 N Line, which means the regular Ioniq 3 may look a bit less fussy. The design language it adopts is called the ‘Art of Steel’, which debuted with the second-gen Nexo. In fact, the design is a mix of the ‘Art of Steel’ and the pixel lighting elements that have been going on for quite a while now. But either way, the Ioniq 3 looks fairly clean for a modern Hyundai. Drag co-efficient is claimed to be 0.263 Cd.
The regular Ioniq 3 measures 4,155 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,505 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. The N Line measures slightly longer at 4,170 mm. Depending on the variant and/or options, wheel sizes range between 16- and 19-inches. Luggage capacity is claimed to be 441-litres in total, including a 119-litre concealed storage space beneath the trunk floor.
The Ioniq 3 is a front-wheel-drive EV. Meaning, there’s a single front electric motor, offering 108 kW (147 metric hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). If you choose the long-range variant, your power output drops to 99 kW (135 metric hp). The standard-range battery is 42.2 kWh, estimated to offer a WLTP range of up to 344 km (214 mi). The long-range battery pack is 61 kWh, estimated to offer a WLTP range of up to 496 km (308 mi).
Key highlights inside include a digital cluster, a 14.6-inch Android-based infotainment, Bose Premium Sound System, dual-zone climate control, heated & ventilated seats, and seat upholstery that contains recycled and bio-based materials.
