Audi India launches the much-awaited new Q7 with prices starting at Rs 72 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. It is available in two variants – Q7 Premium Plus and Q7 Technology, priced at Rs 72 lakh and Rs 77.5 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi and Mumbai.

The second generation Audi Q7 will be imported as a completely built-up unit initially, and will be assembled at the company’s Aurangabad facility later. The new Q7 looks more angular and sharper following the current design language of Audi. The car retains Audi’s signature hexagonal grille and angular matrix headlamps with DRLs, angular tail lamps and restyled bumpers. The car seems a bit lower than the outgoing model and has improved aerodynamics. Overall, the design of the car is cleaner and sharper. The vehicle is also smaller in dimension with 37 mm less length and 15 mm less width.

Weight reduction is the mantra for many car makers these days and the new Q7 is no exception. It is lighter by 325 kg than its predecessor, thanks to the MLB (Modular Longitudinal Matrix) platform on which the new Q7 is built on. Audi claims the car also has a better fuel efficiency at 14.75 km/l.

Audi cars are known for cabin quality and the new Q7 has further improvements. The new Q7 receives an updated dashboard, a new gear lever and a new centre console. In terms of equipment, the car comes standard with a virtual cockpit screen replacing the conventional dials, quad-zone climate control and a new infotainment system with navigation. The new Audi Q7 also comes with a Bose 3D audio system and an Audi auto drive system with auto park assist and 360-degree surround camera.

As for the powerplant, the Audi Q7 features a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine that producing 183 kW (245 hp) and a peak torque of 600 Nm. Transmitting power to all four-wheels via Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system is an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The new Q7 will do a top speed of 234 km/h and 0 – 100 km/h acceleration in 7.1 seconds.
