Volvo launches the XC90 T8 Excellence plug-in hybrid in India at Rs 1.25 Crore, ex-showroom, Delhi. First unveiled at 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, the XC90 T8 Excellence is the first plug-in hybrid SUV to go on sale in India.

While the exterior of the car is largely identical to the regular XC90 except for an “excellence” badge, new alloy wheels, subtle door mouldings and an outlet for plugging-in, its the interiors where the car lives upto its name. It takes the luxury of the regular XC90 to a whole new level.

Nappa leather upholstery, rear passenger entertainment system, ventilated seats with massage and heating functionality which can be adjusted to individual preferences, Bowers & Wilkins audio and beverage cooler are some of the features.

All the settings can be adjusted via “Excellence Console”.

The XC90 T8 Excellence is powered by a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine which uses turbocharging and supercharging to produce 312 hp. The electric motor on the other hand produces 88 hp, making the total output to 400 hp and 640 Nm of torque. Transmission is taken care by an 8 Speed automatic.

It is not only a segment-first but India’s first plug-in hybrid SUV and we see a lot of interest from our more affluent customers, who prefer to experience ‘responsible’ luxury.”

The XC90 T8 Excellence is brought to India via CBU route.
