Okinawa launches Ridge electric scooter

Gurgaon based Okinawa Scooters has launched Ridge electric scooter at Rs 43,702 ex-showroom, Delhi. Officially registered as Okinawa Autotech Pvt Ltd in 2015, the company has its manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan with a capacity of 90,000 units a year.

The Ridge is powered by an 800 watt (around 1 hp) motor, which can achieve a top speed of 55 km/h. The 60V VLRA (valve-regulated lead-acid) battery gives a range of 80 – 90 km on a single charge. While it takes 4 – 6 hours to fully charge, there is a fast charging option which cuts down the charging time significantly.

The Ridge comes with digital instrument cluster, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, anti-theft alarm, central locking smart controller, Eco and Power driving modes. It has the capacity to carry a load of up to 150 kg.

The Ridge can be had in red, green-gold, red-white and white shades. The company plans to invest around $40 Million over the next three years in order to expand its operations across the country. The company currently has 24 dealerships, and plans to open 450 dealerships across the country in a phased manner over the next three years.
