Skoda Superb Sportline launched at Rs 28.99 lakh

Skoda has launched the Superb Sportline in India, priced at Rs 28.99 lakh for the petrol and Rs 31.49 lakh for the diesel variant. Both prices are ex-showroom.

In case you’re wondering, the Sportline slots between the Style and the top-end Laurin & Klement. On the exterior, the car gets gloss black grille, darkened fog lamps, gloss black mirrors, window frames and door strips, gloss black boot lid spoiler, and obligatory Sportline badges on the front fenders. Rounding off the exterior looks are 17-inch Drakon dual-tone alloy wheels.

The Superb Sportline sold in other markets have a much better looking ‘Vega’ alloy wheels. However, they measure 19-inch, which probably aren’t suitable for Indian conditions.

Skoda-Superb-Sportline-Interior-India

The black interiors get sporty door sill strips, carbon fibre-like trim elements, LED ambient lighting, 8-inch infotainment system with SmartLink, 8 speakers, sports seats with black Alcantara upholstery, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats, and chrome pedals.

Other features include Bi-xenon headlamps with decorative crystal elements, AFS (Adaptive Front light System), auto-dimming external mirrors with three programmable memory settings, panoramic sunroof with bounce-back, 3-zone Climatronic with clean air function, two Skoda umbrellas, HHC (Hill Hold Control), HBA (Hill Brake Assist), height-adjustable three-point seatbelts at the front, airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS, ESC, ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) and EDS (Electronic Differential Lock).

Powertrains
As you might have guessed, there are no mechanical changes. The Superb is powered by a 1.8-litre TSI (turbocharged petrol) engine which produces 180 hp between 4000-6200 rpm and 320 Nm of torque between 1450-3900 rpm, and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. When paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic, the output is 180 hp between 5100-6200 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1250-5000 rpm.

There is also a 2.0-litre TDI with an output of 177 hp between 3600-4000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1500-3500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed DSG automatic. The Skoda Superb is a front-wheel drive car.

Buyers have a choice of 3 colors – Velvet Red Metallic, Steel Grey Uni and Moon White Metallic.
