Volkswagen has announced the pricing of its full-size family SUV, the 2018 Atlas, to start at $30,500 for the 4-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI S FWD model. But do note that the aforementioned entry-level model is available at a later date.
The new Atlas is built on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform, and is available in 6 trims. There are two engine choices, the 4-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI engine, which produces 235 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque (with premium fuel), and the 3.6-litre V6 engine, which makes 276 hp and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is optional on V6 models.
As for the safety systems, the 2018 Atlas claims to be the only vehicle in its class to offer an Automatic Post-Collision Braking system.
The Chattanooga-built SUV is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in May, and below is the model lineup with price and details.
