Genesis GV60 technical details revealed

After showing off the GV60’s styling, Crystal Sphere, and talking about the Face Connect technology, Genesis is now ready to reveal some juicy details of the marque’s first all-electric offering. However, Genesis has retained pricing and availability details for another day. In the meantime, let’s take a look at what the crossover has to offer for North American markets.

The GV60 comes in two main categories: Standard and Performance. The Standard will offer RWD and AWD configurations, while the Performance will only be AWD. The Standard RWD with its single rear electric motor offers 168 kW (228 metric hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, while the AWD gets a 160 kW (217 metric hp) motor at the rear and a 74 kW (101 metric hp) motor at the front, offering a combined 234 kW (318 metric hp) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft) of torque.

The Performance model gets a 160 kW (217 metric hp) motor at each axle, offering a combined 320 kW (435 metric hp) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft) in Sports mode and 360 kW (489 metric hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) in Boost mode. The Performance’s figures are significantly less compared with those of the Kia EV6 GT.

The Boost mode button on the steering wheel activates additional performance for about 10 seconds and enables a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 4.0 seconds. As for the battery pack, apparently, each model will be offered with only a 77.4 kWh pack, which is estimated to offer a range of up to 451 km (280 mi) in the Standard RWD variant equipped with 19-inch wheels. The battery pack can be charged with up to 350 kW at a DC fast-charging station, which is claimed to take about 18 minutes to fill up from 10% to 80%. The GV60 can also be used as a mobile power source, as it offers a V2L (Vehicle to Load) function.

Drift Mode, electronic-Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD), electric-Active Sound Design (e-ASD), and Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS) are some of the other highlights of the GV60. The Preview ECS uses information gathered from the front camera and navigation system to recognize situations that could impact the vehicle, such as speed bumps, in advance, and adjusts the damping force accordingly.
