Peugeot E-208 GTi is a hot e-hatch ready to go on sale

That’s right, the GTi surname doesn’t exclusively belong to Volkswagen. Peugeot is also using it for a few of its models, including the 208. As you may know, the 208 went all-electric in 2019, but a GTi variant was missing, that is, until the start of the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans recently. The E-208 GTi has been listed on the Peugeot France website, but at the time of publishing this story, it is not yet available for sale. You might wanna keep in touch with your local dealer.

I’m not an EV guy, but damn! This looks hot, doesn’t it? Besides the red paint, you can also order the E-208 GTi in white. But regardless of the exterior paint, the contrast touches will be in red, such as those inside the headlight housing, the grille, the wheel arches, and the GTi branding on the wheels. Those stunning 18-inch wheels are wrapped with 215/40 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

Compared with the regular 208, the GTi boasts wider tracks (56 mm at the front and 27 mm at the rear), along with a 30 mm lowered ride height—thanks to springs and shock absorbers with specific hydraulic stops. There’s also a rear anti-roll bar. A limited-slip differential is integrated into the reducer for better cornering behaviour, agility, and stability. Large 355 mm front discs with 4-piston callipers should ensure braking confidence.

The E-208 GTi retains the front-wheel-drive layout, but the motor in this application is a more powerful unit. The regular E-208 in France offers two options: 100 kW (136 metric hp) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) with a 50 kWh battery pack; 115 kW (156 metric hp) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) with a 54 kWh battery pack. The GTi tops the lineup with 206 kW (280 metric hp) and 345 Nm (254 lb-ft); significantly higher figures compared with the regular models. The battery pack remains 54 kWh, sourced from CATL, offering an estimated range of up to 350 km (217 mi) (mixed use). The real-world range may differ. The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 5.7 seconds.

The dark theme is continued on the inside too, with tasteful red contrast highlights. There’s a generous application of Alcantara – on the sporty seats, steering wheel, and centre console. There’s also a carbon fibre like application on the dashboard and door panels.
