Replaces the EQC
Just like how the new BMW iX3 is not related to its ICE siblings, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology (or simply, the electric GLC) is also not related to its ICE siblings. This is an all-electric model, built on the MB.EA platform. Initially, for European markets (in 2026), it’ll be offered in a sole GLC 400 4Matic variant. But there are reports of a less powerful GLC 300+ variant for other markets.
Not sure which dank-head came-up with the idea that a glowing grille looks “premium” or “cool”, everyone seems to be adopting that idea. The optional illuminated grille features a total of 942 polycarbonate backlit dots, which can be animated for additional cost. Digital Lights are an optional extra for those who don’t fancy the standard LED headlights. The basic silhouette of this electric GLC is similar to that of a regular GLC, but the front and rear fascias are where it tries to distinguish itself. Mercedes claims a drag co-efficient of 0.26 Cd.
The electric GLC is slightly larger than its ICE siblings. It measures 4,845 mm long, 1,913 mm wide and 1,644 mm tall. Wheelbase measures 2,972 mm. Luggage capacity is up to 1,740 litres, excluding the 128 litre frunk. Up to 21-inch light-alloy wheel options are available for buyers.
The GLC 400 4Matic is powered by two PSM electric motors: one at the front and one at the back, offering combined outputs of 360 kW (489 metric hp) and 808 Nm (596 lb-ft). The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 4.3 seconds, while the top speed appears to be limited to 210 km/h (130 mph). A 94 kWh NMC battery pack is estimated to offer a WLTP range of up to 713 km (443 mi).
The Airmatic air suspension with intelligent suspension control and rear-axle steering are part of the optional technology package. The intelligent suspension control includes a new Car-to-X function. Car-to-X denotes communication between vehicles and with traffic infrastructure.
Inside, the entire dashboard is covered with the so-called MBUX Hyperscreen with a 39.1-inch real estate. But thankfully, it is an option. The electric GLC also claims to have the first-ever vegan-certified (Vegan Society) interior. There are no animal-derived products inside.
Optional driver assistance systems include MB.DRIVE ASSIST, MB.DRIVE ASSIST PLUS, MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO, MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST, and MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360.
