2027 BMW 3 Series debuts with the M350

As some of you may remember, earlier this year, BMW unveiled the 8th-gen 3 Series in the form of the all-electric i3. Well, now it’s time for the i3’s ICE siblings to join and form a lineup. Prices in Germany start at €49,900.

Variants Base Price (including 19% VAT)
318 Sedan €49,900
320 Sedan €54,900
M350 xDrive Sedan €80,900
i3 40 xDrive Sedan €59,900
i3 50 xDrive Sedan €65,900
i3 M60 xDrive Sedan Available in 2027

Visually, the ICE models look pretty much the same as the i3 we saw a few months ago. Even the M350 xDrive, the sportier of the bunch, doesn’t look much different except for some dark accents, a subtle bootlid spoiler, quad tailpipes, and sportier 20-inch optional wheels. Up to 21-inch options are available depending on the variant. Regular 3 Series buyers can pick adaptive suspension or adaptive M suspension from the options list; the latter comes standard in the M350 xDrive.

The entry-level 318 comes packing a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 115 kW (156 metric hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). Next up, we’ve the 320, also packing a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, pumping out 155 kW (211 metric hp) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft). Both these models come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Transmission in both cases is an 8-speed ZF automatic, driving the rear wheels.

The big daddy M350 xDrive packs a 3.0L straight-six turbo petrol, pumping out 326 kW (443 metric hp) and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft). The 8-speed ZF automatic is coupled with the xDrive AWD system. The aforementioned mild-hybrid system is present here too, and is more powerful here, offering a boost of up to 13 kW (18 metric hp) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 4.1 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Of course, the real big-daddy is gonna be the new M3, expected to arrive sometime next year, but we’ve seen the concept already.

The all-electric i3 variant has expanded to include the i3 40 xDrive and the i3 M60 xDrive; the latter is expected to be available sometime next year. The i3 40 slots below the 345 kW (469 metric hp) i3 50 we saw last year, packing combined figures of 275 kW (374 metric hp) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft), which are not too shabby for an entry-level car. We don’t have the numbers for the i3 M60 yet, but BMW claims that it’ll be “ultra-potent”.

Some of the key highlights inside include the BMW Panoramic Vision, optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display, a 17.9-inch Central Display, optional M Sport seats, optional rear seat heating, and the optional Harman Kardon audio system.
