Exclusive for China – BMW 1 Series Sedan

BMW 1 Series Sedan

The BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. (joint venture) has developed the 1 Series Sedan exclusive for the Chinese market. The company calls it “the first compact sports sedan” under the BMW brand. First unveiled at the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show, the 1 Series Sedan is the smallest sedan from Bavaria, and will take on the likes of Mercedes CLA and Audi A3 sedan.

No technical details have been revealed yet, but the company says that the 1 Series Sedan has been designed, engineered and fine-tuned specifically for China, keeping Chinese road conditions, climatic conditions and driving styles in mind.

BMW says the 1 Series Sedan will have BMW ConnectedDrive technologies, rich infotainment, and significantly enhanced safety. Engines for the 1 Series Sedan will be produced at the new local engine plant in Shenyang, and the company promises to keep up with the slogan – unparalleled driving pleasure.

Why is it exclusive to China? Well, the CLA and A3 Sedan are on sale in India and in many parts of the world. Maybe BMW thinks it’s not a very good idea at the moment to introduce it elsewhere. Maybe success in China might change their mind. So, keep the fingers crossed.
