For those who complain that the regular Panamera just looks like a 4 door 911 and isn’t all that practical, Porsche has a solution – the Panamera Sport Turismo, which by the looks of it, should offer the best of both worlds.

The tailgate opens like any other hatch, allowing a cargo capacity of 520 litres, which can be expanded up to 1,390 litres. The 4 E-Hybrid variant gets a lesser 425 litres and 1,295 litres when expanded. The roof spoiler is adaptive, and the angle is set in three stages depending on the driving situation and selected vehicle settings, which helps generate an additional downforce of up to 50 kg on the rear axle. Up to a speed of 170 km/h, the spoiler stays in its retracted position with an angle of minus seven degrees, reducing drag and optimizing fuel consumption.

When in the Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position at speeds of 90 km/h upwards. Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) also provides active assistance by adapting the roof spoiler’s angle of inclination to plus 26 degrees when the panoramic sliding roof is open at a speed of 90 km/h or above. In this case, the spoiler helps to minimize wind noise.

From the technology and equipment perspective, the Sport Turismo utilizes everything from the new Panamera launched last year. These include the digital Porsche Advanced Cockpit, assistance systems such as Porsche InnoDrive, Adaptive Cruise Control, chassis systems such as rear-axle steering, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) electronic roll stabilization system. In addition, all Panamera Sport Turismo vehicles are equipped with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) – an active all-wheel drive system with electronically controlled multi-plate clutch as standard. As of the S models, adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology is also a standard fitment.

The Sport Turismo measures 5,049 millimetres long, 1,428 millimetres high and 1,937 millimetres wide, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. It rides on large 21-inch wheels.

Five engines that are already used in the sports saloon will be available at market launch. The European market launch is scheduled for October 7, 2017, with the other markets following in early November. Prices in Germany start at €97,557 for the Panamera 4 Sport Turismo (243 kW/330 hp), €112,075 for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo (340 kW/462 hp system power), €120,048 for the Panamera 4S Sport Turismo (324 kW/440 hp), €123,975 for the Panamera 4S Diesel Sport Turismo (310 kW/422 hp) and €158,604 for the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo (404 kW/550 hp), all including VAT.

And yes, it’ll be there at the Geneva Motor Show if you want to have a look.
