JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) has unveiled the XJR575 super saloon, which does 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).

No prizes for guessing what the ‘575’ stands for, the 5.0-litre V8 supercharged motor makes 575 hp, up from 550 hp of the flagship XJ range. Torque is rated at 700 Nm. The vehicle gets Electronic Active Differential to control the power delivery and maximize traction.

As for the visual enhancements, the XJR575 gets black treatment for the grille and air intakes. Red brake calipers look good behind the 20-inch gloss-black wheels. Interiors get carbon elements and diamond-quilted seating with red contrast stitching. 10-inch touchscreen, 4G Wi-Fi, and all the goodies of the XJ range has been carried over. Buyers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior colour finishes created by SVO – Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey.

“This is a performance vehicle, but that doesn’t mean we have had to cut any corners when it comes to comfort or design. Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar saloon. That makes this a very special car indeed.” – Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar.

“I have done plenty of short interviews in my time, but nothing quite like this! It might have been a bit of fun but doesn’t it just demonstrate perfectly the extreme performance of the new XJR575. I could barely finish answering those quick-fire questions before we hit 186mph and then it was all over! Can we go again?” – Wayne Burgess, Production Studio Director and SVO Projects, Jaguar.

The XJR575 is manufactured at JLR’s Castle Bromwich plant alongside the XE, XF, F-TYPE and XJ model lines. Priced at £93,710 OTR.
