Jiangxi Isuzu Motors, a 50:50 JV between Isuzu and Jiangling Motors, has taken the wraps off the 2018 MU-X, with prices starting at 178,800 CNY (Rs 17.5 lakh). The SUV will join Chinese National Geography, a monthly magazine, for an expedition.

The exterior changes are pretty much identical to the ASEAN market version with some minor tweaks. Wheels are 18-inch alloys. The fresh interiors get 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife. There is ambient lighting and Yamaha sound system as well.

Powering the SUV is a ‘BluePower’ 1.9 turbo diesel with an output of 120 kW (161 hp) @ 3,600 rpm and 360 Nm of torque @ 2,000-2,500 rpm, paired to a 6-Speed AT. The 2.5 unit has been let go. Another engine choice is a 3.0 turbo diesel with an output of 130 kW (174 hp) @ 3,600 rpm and 430 Nm of torque @ 2,000-2,200 rpm, paired to a 6-Speed AT or 6-Speed MT. The larger engine is available only as a 4WD while the smaller can be had with 2WD configuration as well.

The new model is claimed to be more fuel efficient and less polluting.
