BMW 6 Series GT rolls out from Chennai Plant

BMW India has rolled out the first ever 6 Series Gran Turismo from the company’s plant in Chennai. With this, the locally produced BMW models have gone up to 9. The plant will also start the local production of Mini Countryman this year.

Launched at the Auto Expo 2018, the 6 Series Gran Turismo is currently available in a petrol variant, the 630i Gran Turismo Sport Line. The 2.0 TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol produces 190 kW (258 hp) and 400 Nm of torque. Transmission is an 8-Speed Steptronic automatic sending power to the rear wheels.

The diesel variant will be launched later in 2018.

Besides the new 6 Series GT, the BMW Group Plant in Chennai locally produces the 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3 and the X5. The plant has 50 percent localization.

The 6 Series GT is priced at Rs 58,90,000 ex-showroom, Pan India.
