As our cities continue to grow and get more congested, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of options when it comes to transporting people in the future. People are going to leave their personal vehicles at home and the shared mobility business is only going to get bigger.

Which is probably why we’ve been seeing a lot of interesting concepts lately. Recently we saw the Volvo 360c and Renault’s EZ-GO earlier this year. At the 2018 Paris Motor Show, Renault has come back with another concept called EZ-Ultimo. It is a premium shared mobility service and apparently, can extend the premium experience of a hotel, resort or an airline company.

Equipped with level 4 autonomous driving technology, the EZ-Ultimo is available on-demand, for a single trip, for an hour or for an entire day.

Interior access is easy thanks to a wide automatic opening and a seat on a swiveling slide. The vehicle has slightly transparent facets on the upper part of the bodywork for privacy. The relaxed interior layout has materials made of wood, marble and leather.

Also, for connected and autonomous cars, Renault has come up with Augmented Editorial Experience or AEX, which displays personalized content. Renault says that the technology can turn travel time into a learning experience for future EZ-Ultimo passengers.

“As consumer trends change and people are enjoying ride-hailing services more and more, a new paradigm for mobility will emerge. Embodying this revolution, Renault EZ-Ultimo offers a unique luxurious experience aboard a robo-vehicle that can be adapted depending on the service provider,” said Laurens van den Acker, SVP Corporate Design. “Inspired by contemporary architecture, and completely integrated in future smart cities, EZ-Ultimo will provide an exclusive experience for all. With autonomous, electric and connected cars, we are entering a new exciting era in automotive design,” he added.
