Global NCAP crash test update: Tata Nexon awarded 5 stars

Tata Nexon’s success story continues as the SUV has now been awarded 5 stars for the adult occupant protection, making it the first Indian model to achieve Global NCAP’s coveted five star crash test rating. This update follows the recent tests where the Nexon scored 4 stars.

In order to achieve 5 stars, the Nexon was required to pass a side impact test, and Tata Motors has added seat belt reminder for co-driver too as standard, which further helped the SUV score points.

In the Child Occupant category, Nexon’s 3 star score remains unchanged. More here.

This result is valid for all Nexon units produced as from December 7th, 2018 (from VIN MAT627165JLP51255)

“This is a huge landmark for car safety in India. Congratulations to Tata Motors for achieving India’s first five star rating for adult occupant protection. Congratulations also to Mahindra for their first four star result. The Nexon was engineered in India and this shows the huge capability of the domestic industry to achieve excellence in safety design and performance,” said David Ward, Global NCAP Secretary General.
