No surprises here, the Trezor is a beautiful concept. People kept their mouths open and completely speechless throughout the video when Renault aired it last year. The Jury of the 2017 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, presented the award for the most beautiful concept car of the year to Laurens van den Acker, Renault’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Design.

The prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has been held since 1929 on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The annual event attracts car enthusiasts, collectors, media fraternity and digital influences across the world.

Renault says, to enter in the prototypes and concept cars category, Trezor had to meet a set of rigorous selection criteria as a working concept car with high-quality and original styling, ticking all the boxes.

The concept car showcases the design cues of future Renault models and is powered by an electric powertrain derived from the world of Formula E with maximum power of 260 kW (350 hp) and peak torque of 380 Nm. The Trezor can sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in less than four seconds. There are two batteries, each of which has its own cooling system optimised by the variable-geometry air intake incorporated in the bonnet.

The chassis incorporates a central carbon cell mated to tubular steel frames front and rear. The monocoque and access hatch are made from carbon. The ultra-low bodywork results in a drag co-efficient of just 0.22 Cd. Last but not the least, the tyres are from Continental, and are fitted to 21 and 22-inch wheels, respectively, at the front and rear. If you’re curious about the weight, its around 1,600 kg.

“This award testifies to the fine judgment of great car collectors, who consider automobiles to be works of art. It recognises the work of our designers who were part of this fantastic project.” – Stéphane Janin, Renault’s Director of Concept Cars Design
