Mahindra working on Hyundai Creta rival

SsangYong-Tivoli-Auto-Expo-2016

The Compact SUV market in India is rather tempting, and hard for the automakers to resist having a piece of that. Although SsangYong brand failed in India and Mahindra announced that it wont bring any more products from the aforementioned brand, the company is working on a new compact SUV based on SsangYong Tivoli.

Codenamed S201, the new compact SUV has been spotted testing multiple times this year, and is expected to debut at the 2018 Auto Expo near Delhi.

Internationally, the Tivoli is offered with 128 PS 1.6-litre petrol and 115 PS 1.6-litre diesel units, with 2WD and AWD options. However, for the Indian market, powertrains are expected to be different.

The Tivoli measures 4195 mm in length (UK model), which means it doesn’t fall under sub-4m category. Width and height are 1795 mm and 1590 mm, respectively. Wheelbase measures 2600 mm. The S201’s numbers may vary.

Once launched, the S201 will rival the likes of Creta, Tata Nexon, Brezza, and Duster.
