Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) has unveiled the Roxor off-road vehicle at the company’s HQ in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Roxor is a recreational vehicle. According to Mahindra, it’s an “off-highway vehicle” as it is not street legal.

Mahindra says that the Roxor has a military-grade construction featuring a steel body on a boxed steel frame, a heavy-duty 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, and an automotive style 5-speed manual transmission.

The 2.5L M2DICR produces 62 hp at 3,200 rpm and 195 Nm (144 lb·ft) of torque between 1,400-2,200 rpm. The Roxor is a 4WD with 2-speed Dana T18 transfer case. The off-roader features leaf springs at the rear.

The top speed has been limited to 45 mph (72 km/h), and max towing speed is 15 mph (24 km/h). Fuel economy is claimed to be an average of 32 to 34 mpg.

The Roxor’s curb weight is 3,035 lbs (1,377 kg). Ground clearance is 9-inch (229 mm), and towing capacity is 3,490 lbs (1,583 kg) which is claimed to be greater than other UTVs (Side x Side). Front brakes are 9″ discs while the rear are 11″ drums.

“Mahindra’s 70-year automotive history has been forged by making authentic, rugged, purpose-driven vehicles; Roxor is the embodiment of this history…and our brand,” said Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra.

The Roxor creates a new sub-segment in the Side x Side industry, and the response we’re getting from our newly appointed dealer body has been really outstanding. We have a National Dealer Meeting scheduled on March 18-20th, in San Antonio, Texas, where we’ll sit down and discuss the roll-out and future product offerings. We’re approaching our goal of 300 “1st wave” dealers, and expect that we’ll reach this target between now and the end of the show. – Rick Haas, President & CEO, Mahindra Automotive North America.

The Roxor is produced at the company’s new manufacturing facility in Detroit that was inaugurated in November 2017.
