Audi is expanding its plug-in hybrid lineup with the Q7 TFSI e quattro, based on the facelifted Q7 that was revealed in June 2019. There’ll be two variants on offer – Q7 60 TFSI e and Q7 55 TFSI e.

As mentioned, the design is based on the Q7 facelift. The S line exterior is completed with the black styling package, Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch wheels, and Red brake calipers.

Let’s start with the range-topping one. The 60 TFSI e packs a 3.0L V6 TFSI engine and an electric motor. The ICE produces 250 kW (340 hp) and 450 Nm (331.9 lb-ft) of torque, while the electric motor puts out 94 kW (128 hp) and 350 Nm (258.1 lb-ft) of torque. The combined system output is 335 kW (455 hp) and a system torque of 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft).

For those who don’t need that much power and torque, Audi is offering the 55 TFSI e. Here, the system output and system torque is 280 kW (381 hp) and 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft), respectively.

The liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack in both variants is of 17.3 kWh capacity and is mounted under the luggage compartment floor. In pure electric operation, both Q7 variants are claimed to achieve the same range of up to 43 km (WLTP).

By default, the SUV starts in fully electric EV mode. A loudspeaker in the right wheel arch emits an artificial e-sound to warn pedestrians and cyclists in city traffic. As with other TFSI e siblings, the Hybrid mode offers two operating modes: Auto and Hold. In Auto mode, the predictive operating strategy is activated automatically when route guidance is started in the MMI navigation plus. In Hold mode, the battery’s existing state of charge is kept at the current level to be used at a later time.

If the performance figures interest you, the Q7 60 TFSI e is claimed to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds when both power units work together in boost mode. The 55 TFSI e is not bad either, it does 0 – 100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds. The top speed in both variants is limited to 240 km/h (155.3 mph).

Options include adaptive air suspension and adaptive cruise assist.

The Q7 60 TFSI e quattro and the Q7 55 TFSI e quattro are priced at €89,500 and €74,800, respectively, in Germany.
