Nissan has revealed the third generation Rogue crossover with revised styling, more creature comforts and standard safety equipment. The brand’s best-seller will go on sale in North American markets in fall 2020.

Built on an updated CMF-C/D platform, the 2021 Rogue measures 183.0-inches (4,648 mm) long, 72.4-inches (1,839 mm) wide and 66.9-inches (1,699 mm) high. Its wheelbase measures 106.5-inches (2,705 mm). Compared with the previous generation, the new Rogue is longer, wider and lower, while the wheelbase remains the same.

As for styling, the new Rogue sports an evolved V-motion grille and multi-level LED headlights. The LED fog lights are standard on SL and Platinum trims. While the side profile looks clean, the rear-end looks rather busy with a sculpted tailgate.

Key aerodynamic features include “3D” tire deflectors in the lower front fascia, an active grille shutter to control airflow into the engine bay, A-pillar shaping, underbody covers to manage airflow under the vehicle and a unique “air curtain” that precisely directs airflow from the front to the sides of the Rogue, Nissan said.

For the first time ever, the color palette includes five two-tone combinations.

The fresh interior features Nissan’s NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats, leather upholstery on the SL trim, quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery on the new Platinum trim, and a choice of three interior colors: Charcoal, Gray and Tan.

There’s a big list of options which include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a full-color 10.8-inch head-up display (claimed to be the largest in the segment), 9.0-inch floating touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charger, heated seats, tri-zone climate control, and pull-up sunshades for the rear doors.

On lower grades, a 7.0-inch centre display replaces the previous 5.0-inch display.

Safety and driver assistance
As for safety, the new Rogue features Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard across the lineup. It includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking. Passive safety includes 10 airbags.

Intelligent Cruise Control is included as part of the optional ProPILOT Assist system. The ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link is standard on the new Platinum trim and optional on the SL trim.

The 2021 Rogue is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 135 kW (184 metric hp) at 6000 rpm and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque at 3600 rpm. The engine is paired with a CVT that drives the front wheels. AWD is optional. Compared with the previous 2.5L engine, there’s an increase of 11 hp and 8 Nm (6 lb-ft) of torque. The 2021 Rogue also features a new Rack Electric Power Steering with a quick gear ratio, helping minimize steering corrections, Nissan said. The new suspension setup features a rigid mount (six mounting points) and a new multi-link rear.
