Delage — a French automotive brand that ceased operations in 1953, is returning with a V12 hybrid hypercar called ‘D12’. The rights of the luxury marque have been transferred to Laurent Tapie, son of French businessman Bernard Tapie.

The D12 has a tiny, jet fighter-like cockpit with a passenger seat right behind the driver’s. The canopy door adds to the drama. Typical of a modern, niche, hybrid hypercar, there are generous amounts of gaps and gapes and a massive active rear wing. It also features F1-inspired push-rod suspension.

As mentioned, the D12 is a hybrid hypercar. It boasts a naturally aspirated 7.6-litre V12 engine combined with an electric motor. The combined output in the standard variant is reported to be 1,130 metric hp (831 kW), while a lighter variant with a smaller e-motor will offer a combined 1,038 metric hp (763 kW). The standard variant weighs around 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs) while the lighter variant shaves off around 90 kg (198 lbs).

Tapie is planning to produce only 30 units with an expected price tag of around €2 million.
