Honda has revealed the near-production prototype of the 11th generation Civic in its Sedan form. It is scheduled to go on sale in late spring 2021, followed by the Hatchback, Si and Type R variants.

As for the design, Honda says that the stylists and engineers revisited the past Civics for some inspiration and combined it with the “Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum” (M/M) philosophy. The designers carried over the low CG profile of the 10th-generation model, including its low overall height and low hip point. The team also made substantial changes to the upper body design to maximize visibility, including moving the A-pillars and side mirrors a little rearward.

In fact, the entire greenhouse has been moved a little rearward, elongating the hood, which is apparently for a more premium side view. Speaking of which, there’s a sharp shoulder line and a character line, but otherwise, it’s a fairly clean side view. Also, notice that the front light signature is mimicked at the rear. Rounding off the looks are 18-inch 5-twin-spoke wheels.

The cabin doesn’t appear to be fully ready yet, which is probably why we have only this b/w 3D rendering at the moment. However, it still offers a good idea of how the production interior could look like. As with the exterior, the designers have gone for a non-aggressive, minimalistic theme. Maybe it’s just me, but there’s a subtle German flavor to the dashboard. Anyway, the feature list would include a 9-inch full HD touchscreen and a digital driver display.

As for safety and driver assistance, Honda said that the 11th-generation Civic will introduce multiple new active and passive safety systems, including an upgraded Honda Sensing suite and multiple new airbag designs. In addition, the new Civic is built with an advanced version of the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure that is claimed to offer improved occupant and pedestrian collision protection.

As for the business end of the story, Honda just said that the new Civic will offer “more powerful and fuel-efficient powertrains”. More details are expected in the coming days.
