That’s right! The iconic London Taxi is coming to India. Bentley’s official Indian importer Exclusive Motors has announced a partnership with London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) to set up a dealership in New Delhi. The importer will offer the TX electric taxi in the country.

The TX made its debut in fall 2017 as an updated version of the original London Taxi. It is actually a plug-in series-hybrid vehicle, meaning it is primarily driven by a 110 kW (150 metric hp) electric motor, but there’s also a 1.5L 3-cylinder combustion engine that acts as a range extender. Thanks also to a 31 kWh battery pack, the taxi claims a total range of up to 377 miles or about 607 km (as per the brochure). The TX offers space for up to 6 passengers, onboard wi-fi, smartphone charging points, and an intercom system to communicate with the driver. As for passive safety, the passenger compartment features two full-length curtain airbags. ADAS include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Road Sign Recognition, and all those usual stuff.

“We are glad to have partnered with an iconic brand like LEVC. India is an emerging market for electric vehicles, and there could not be a better time for LEVC to make its foray into the country. The technology, aesthetics and practicality of the vehicle are certain to win over the Indian customers in the days to come,” said Satya Bagla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors.
