Manthey Performance Kit for Porsche 911 GT3 offers faster lap times

The current-gen Porsche 911 GT3 lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife once again recently and this time it recorded 6:55.737 minutes, thanks to the Manthey Performance Kit—which shaved off 4.19 seconds from the standard 911 GT3’s lap. And so, Porsche is offering this kit for its European customers initially, available to order via authorized Porsche Centres. Deliveries will commence in autumn 2022.

The kit was a collaboration between the Porsche engineers in Weissach and Nordschleife specialists from Manthey. It includes a larger lip spoiler and flics/canards at the front; underbody modified air guide elements; a wider swan-neck rear wing with large end plates, and larger fins on the rear diffuser made of CFRP. Also, notice that the rear wheels have CFRP aero discs to further enhance the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. All these are claimed to offer a significant increase in downforce.

For those who’d like to spend more, a lightweight forged wheel set (20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear) is also available, which is claimed to offer a cumulative 7.3 kg (16 lbs) reduction in unsprung mass. The wheels are available in Brilliant Silver, Dark Silver, Neodyme and (satin-gloss) Black. The options list includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, which were fitted to the record car. A set of brake lines with steel braids come standard with the kit, which are claimed to guarantee a very precise pressure point and thereby ensure optimal modulation of the brakes. A towing loop is also included in the kit.

Also part of the collaboration is a special four-way coilover suspension that can be adapted for track use. The suspension struts can be adjusted to four positions, and rebound and compression can be tweaked without tools. The moderate changes to the spring rates (10% higher on the front axle, 7% lower on the rear) are claimed to contribute to improved on-the-limit handling, without making any compromises for day-to-day usability.
