BMW M Concept Neue Klasse previews an all-electric M3?

You probably remember reading about the new BMW i3 Sedan a few months ago, which is the second model in BMW’s Neue Klasse series. The new i3 Sedan is nothing but an all-electric 3 Series, all set to go on sale in Germany in autumn 2026. The only thing that’s pending now is to introduce its “M3 version”, albeit in a concept form for now. It’s called the M Concept Neue Klasse. Although BMW calls this a “concept”, it looks almost ready to roll off the assembly line.

I think the styling team has done a fantastic job with the M3 version of the i3, in terms of the proportions, bodykit and overall aggression with those bonnet air outlets and so-called “trimaran-style” bumpers. Looney Ive’s team can learn a thing or two from this one, I guess. Notice that the aggression is not just with the bodykit, but also with the yellow light signatures. There’s also a bit of retro flair going on, especially on the rear fascia with that bootlid design.

This might piss purists off, but if someone were to create a modern, all-electric interpretation of an E30 M3, I think this is exactly how it would look. The concept is finished in a newly developed Monza Red metallic paint; notice the color-matched centre-locks. We don’t have any technical info on this concept, obviously, but given that the regular i3 offers up to 345 kW (469 metric hp), you can expect a number somewhere between 600 and 750 horses. But don’t be surprised if it’s gonna be more than that.

The interior vibe matches perfectly with the exterior with all the reds and blues and some fancy hexagonal ambient lighting on the dashboard. Those new bucket seats look pretty serious in doing their job, and are apparently made from natural fibre materials. The seat upholstery is a combination of Bathurst Blue and Berry Red Merino leather. The seats are paired with Red five-point belts. The steering wheel, the door panels and the roll bar are upholstered black nubuck leather.
