Bentley launches its super luxurious SUV the Bentayga in India at Rs 3.85 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Bentayga is the world’s fastest, most powerful and at this price, it is certainly the most expensive SUV in the world. For the year 2016, only 20 units have been allocated for India and all of them have been sold out.
The SUV first started its life as Bentley EXP 9 F concept and appeared as above in the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Taking the inputs from the show, and what they ended up is the beautiful Bentayga. And BTW, the name “Bentayga” has been inspired by Taiga, the world’s largest transcontinental snow forest, and is composed of the first four letters of Bentley and an altered spelling of Taiga. Bentley also drew inspiration from the rugged peak of the Roque Bentayga in Gran Canaria, a subtropical Canary Island.
Designed, engineered and handcrafted in Crewe, the Bentayga is based on the VW group’s MLB2, also known as MLBevo platform, which also underpins the new Audi Q7.
Powering this beauty is an all new 5950 CC twin-turbo W12 petrol engine producing 600 bhp of power @ 5000-6000 rpm and a whopping 900 Nm of torque @ 1350 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed Automatic Transmission and features a permanent All-Wheel Drive system.
