NGT bans 10 year old diesel vehicles in Kerala

The circuit bench of the National Green Tribunal comprising of chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar and Bikram Singh Sajwan on Monday banned light and heavy diesel vehicles which are more than 10 years old in six municipal corporations in Kerala, and also directed the state Govt not to register any diesel vehicle with capacity of 2000CC and above, except for public transport and local authority vehicles.

All these vehicles have to be taken off the roads in next 30 days, else the violators will have to pay a fine of Rs 5000, which will be collected by the traffic police or the pollution control board.
