Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the SLC convertible on July 26th. The SLC is a facelifted and rebadged SLK as per the company’s new nomenclature, and will come to India as the range topping SLC 43 AMG. Its predecessor, the SLK, which was launched back in 1996, won fans around the world and achieved sales of around 670,000 units, and the company hopes the SLC will continue to win more customers.

The SLC 43 AMG packs a 3.0 litre (2996 CC) V6 biturbo petrol engine producing 367 hp @ 5500-6000 rpm and 520 Nm of torque @ 2000-4200 rpm, and comes mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission as standard. Globally, there are 4 more variants of the SLC available. The SLC 180 with 1.6 litre 4 Cyl engine producing 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque, the SLC 200 and SLC 300 are powered by the same 2.0 litre 4 Cyl engine, producing 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque in the SLC 200, and in the SLC 300 it is tuned to produce 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The SLC 250d is powered by the familiar 2.2 litre 4 Cyl diesel engine producing 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque. While the SLC 180 and SLC 200 are fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission, 9G-Tronic automatic transmission comes as standard in SLC 250d and SLC 300.

The SLC comes with all the bells and whistles of a modern Mercedes-Benz car including Dynamic Select where the driver can select 5 different driving modes – “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport+”, “Eco” and “Individual”. The SLC 43 features an AMG Sport exhaust system as standard and uses the two adjustable exhaust flaps to adapt the sound to the mode selected via DYNAMIC SELECT.

Standard safety kit for the SLC include Active Brake Assist, known in other model series as Collision Prevention Assist Plus. The SLC will take on BMW Z4 roadster when it goes on sale in India.
